Saifur Rahman’s 9th death anniversary observed

Dhaka, Sept 5 – The ninth death anniversary of M Saifur Rahman, the country’s ex-finance minister, was observed on Wednesday with various programmes. Leaders and activists of local BNP and different socio-political organisations paid homage to Saifur by placing wreaths at his grave on the occasion.
Various programmes, including mMiladmahfil, Qurankhwani and distribution of cooked food, arranged by local BNP and Durre Samad Rahman and Saifur Rahman Foundation were held marking the death anniversary of the late BNP leader.
Meanwhile, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir issued a message paying tributes to the departed soul of Saifur.
On September 5, 2009, Saifur, also a former BNP standing committee member, died in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at the age of 77.
Saifur had an outstanding record of presenting 12 national budgets in parliament as the finance minister
He was elected to parliament four times. He had held different important posts in the World Bank, ADB and IFAD. – UNB
