Salman, 2 others submit HC order adjourning share scam hearing

Beximco Limited Vice-Chairman Salman F Rahman and two others of the company submitted an adjournment order of the High Court (HC) in a case to a Dhaka court on Monday afternoon.
Defence lawyer Advocate Mosharraf Hossain Kajal submitted a copy of the order that was passed by the apex court on February 15, 2011 to adjourn the proceedings of the case filed against Salman F Rahman, Beximco Limited Chairman Sohel F Rahman and Managing Director (MD) DH Khan.Earlier in the day, a Dhaka court issued an order asking the accused persons to submit a copy of the HC order within two days. The lower court order also says that it granted petition of the defence in connection with submission of HC order.
The case says that the court framed charges against the accused under Section 25 of the Securities and Exchange Commission Act on August 10, 2010 while the case was filed in 1996 on charges of share scandal. Later upon a Writ petition in 2011, the HC adjourned the proceedings of the case.
Md. Ruhul Amin, Judge of the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court of Dhaka passed the latest order fixing April 24 to record the depositions of other witnesses. Meanwhile, MA Rashid Khan, a former Executive Director of the Securities and Exchange Commission testified partially on Monday. – Court Correspondent
