Mohila Dal stages black-flag demos

Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal on Monday staged black-flag processions across the country protesting the police obstruction to their programme in the city marking the International Women’s Day on Saturday.
The women wing of BNP brought out the black-flag processions in all the district towns and at all the thanas in the capital city, said a Mohila Dal press release.
Meanwhile, police detained Rajshahi district unit Mohila Dal president Rukhsana Begun Tuktuki and joint general secretary Laila Begum from a peaceful rally in Rajshahi, it said.Mohila Dal president Nuri Ara Safa and general secretary Shirin Sultana protested the detention of the two women leaders and demanded the government release them immediately.
Earlier on Saturday Police intercepted Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal leaders and activists as they tried to take out a procession from in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office marking the International Women’s Day.
Later, the Mohila Dal general secretary announced that they would hold the black-flag procession on Monday across the country to protest police action. – UNB
