SAU Convocation Nov 16

Convocation is marked as a great event in the university academic calendar. It’s a special occasion to bring together the Graduates and the Academics. For the graduating students it’s a time to celebrate their accomplishment in front of their friends and families. In our country’s university system, distribution of graduating certificates is the main segment of the convocation ceremony.
The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) was established in 2001 under the bold initiative of the then and present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Before that the SAU was the Bangladesh Agricultural Institute (BAI) which was founded by the then Chief Minister of Bengal Sher-e-Bangla A K Fazlul Huq in 1938 as the Bengal Agricultural Institute (during the Pakistani regime it was re-named as East Pakistan Agricultural Institute). After the its establishment as a university, the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University produced nearly 5000 thousand graduates. Due to various limitations the convocation of SAU could not be held in due time. The present Vice Chancellor Prof. Md. Shadat Ulla took strong initiative which was backed by the faculties which include the Pro-VC Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Hazrat Ali. Prominent SAU Alumnus A F M Bahauddin Nasim MP has been assisting SAU organize its first convocation which is scheduled to be held on November 16, 2015. Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Md. Abdul Hamid has given his kind consent to chair the convocation ceremony.
The news of the first convocation of SAU has created a great enthusiasm among the graduates, faculties and present students. The SAU is expecting to hold the convocation with due avidity.
