A schoolboy drowned in the Brahmaputra River while taking bath on the occasion of Astami Snan, a religious festival of the Hindu community, at Noumahal in the town on Friday.The deceased was identified as Antar Das, a Class-VIII student of Mukul Niketan High School and son of Ranjan Das of the area.Abul Hossain, assistant director of Mymensingh Fire Service, said Antar went missing in the river while taking bath with his parents in the morning.On information, a firefighting unit rushed in and rescued Antar after
one hour of frantic efforts.He was rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
