Screenwriter drawn in Bay

In separate incidents, a teenage boy drowned and a man went missing in the Bay of Bengal in Cox’s Bazar sea beach here on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Rubel, 17, while the missing person is Faruk Hossain. He was learnt to be a screenwriter.

Officer-in-charge of Ukhia Police Station Jahirul Islam Khan said Rubel and some of his friends were playing football at Inani beach.

At one stage, a strong wave of water washed four of them, including Rubel, away to the sea.

Later, a team of local divers rescued the four — Harun, Rasel, Tareq and Rubel — from the sea and took them to a local hospital where duty doctors declared the latter dead.

In another incident, Faruk, who was enjoying Eid vacation in Cox’s Bazar with five of his friends, went missing while bathing in the sea in front of Eco Resort Mermaid Café, said Cox’s Bazar executive magistrate Sadequr Rahman.

Cox’s Bazar deputy commissioner Ali Hossain confirmed the incidents.
