Sculpture exhibition begins at DU Fine Art Faculty

The annual art exhibition of Dhaka University’s Sculpture Department began here today with a pledge to make sculpture a medium for intellectual exercise for social advancement.DU Vice-Chancellor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at Zainul Gallery of the Fine Art Faculty on the campus.
The exhibition will continue till November 7. It will remain open every day from 11am to 8pm.
Fine Art Faculty Dean Professor Nisar Hossain, Sculptor Mujibur Rahman and Convener of the exhibition Lala Rukh Selim addressed the function as special guests with acting chairperson of the department Associate Professor A A M Kaoser Hassan in the chair.
On the first day of the exhibition today, a number of students were awarded for their best art works.
While addressing the programme, Prof Akhtaruzzaman said such kind of exhibition creates room for intellectual exercise.
“Sculpture is very important for the tourism sector. These art works and creativities have a power for social advancement, he said.
Speakers at the programme said through this exhibition the students of the Sculpture Department will be able to present their artistic excellence and creativity necessary for flourishing modern fine arts, reports BSS.
