tral server. Railways Secretary Mofazzel Hossain said the central server broke down around 10 am which disrupted the internet connection in all the railway stations across the country. “This forced the suspension of the ticket sales,” he said.
The ticket sales for the Eid journey on August resumed around 11:30 am after the server returned to normalcy, he said.
Meanwhile, Railways Minister M Mazibul Hoque directed the authorities concerned to ensure so that such problem does reoccur in the future.
Railway started selling train tickets for August 20 in the morning.
A large number of people gathered at Kamalapur Railway Station on Saturday to collect tickets for their journey. The crowd was bigger than that of any other day, said witnesses.
The advance sales of train tickets started on August 8 and will end on Sunday when tickets for August 21 will be sold. – UNB
