Dhaka, Aug 11 – The Jatiya Party today signed a six-point agreement of understanding with Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish centring the ensuing 11th national election. The agreement on polls understanding between the two parties was signed in the city’s Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium.
Jatiya Party Secretary-General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader and Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Moulana Ismail Nurpuree singed the agreement of understanding in presence of Jatiya Party Chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad and Khelafat Majlish Amir Principal Allama Habibur Rahman.
The six-point agreement of understanding highlights formulation of Islamic and Shariah law, stopping the ugly propaganda against Islam, protecting the rights of qaomi students, and scrapping the related section of the National Education Policy which they alleged contradictory to Islam.
Addressing a press conference over the signing of the agreement of understanding, Jatiya Party Chairman Ershad said: “We all are in consensus about our great War of Liberation and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” Mentioning that the present Election Commission would be able to hold a fair election, the former President said his party would take
a different strategy if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) would not take part in the election.
Answering another question, Ershad said they are growing strength to strength as the parties with Islamic values have partnered with Jatiya Party.
Islami Mohajot Chairman Abu Naser Wahid Faruk, Bangladesh Islami Khelafat Majlish Secretary General Moulana Ismail Nurpuree, Bangladesh Islami Front Secretary General MA Matin, Moulana Mahfuzul Haque, BNA Secretary General Advocate Md. Jahangir Hossain, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Join-Secretary General Moulana Md. Jalal Uddin, among others, addressed the press conference. – BSS
