Shakhawat alleged electoral code of conduct is violating in NCC polls

Dhaka-Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) mayoral candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan yesterday raised allegations of the violation of electoral code of conduct in Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls against the ruling party candidate Selina Hyat Ivy.He also alleged that his leaders and workers are getting threats while conducting mass campaign by her people.
Ivy, however, brushed aside these allegations and said that the allegations raised by her rival candidate are nothing but political stunt.
Shakhawat made these allegations while conducting mass campaign at the Mission Para area on Saturday morning.
“She is setting up bigger size of symbols by violating the electoral code of conduct. Our workers are receiving threats at their homes,” he told the journalists.
He alleged that though there are executive magistrates in the 27 words but they are overlooking this matter.
He urged the administration and the election commission to ensure level playing field for all candidates in the upcoming NCC polls on December 22.
Meanwhile, Ivy carried out mass contact at different areas. She was received with the showers of petals at some places. She bagged votes from the voters there sometimes using the megaphones.
“Everyday he is raising allegations against me. I start my campaign with two or three people. If more people join me during my campaign, I have nothing to do. I am doing everything following the rules and regulations,” she said.
“I am not using the megaphones. He is bagging votes, so am I. People will choose their mayor,” she added.
Regarding the allegations of threat, the former mayor Ivy said, “It is totally false. None can win by resorting false statement.”
“I don’t have any force. If anyone gives threats, give specific allegation. We will take steps – be it my brother, children. I will hand over them to police. But his allegations are nothing but political stunt,” she observed.-STAFF REPORTER
