The investigation officer (IO) of the sensational murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu said yesterday (Saturday) they will Mitu’s husband former superintendent of police (SP) Babul Akter more if necessary after verifying the information which they got from him after quizzing on Thursday.The IO also said he will submit the charge-sheet of the case soon after completing the investigation.
“We gave talked with him about the incidents and the nature of the incidents. After informing him he came to my office. After verifying the information if necessary we will quiz him again,” said Md Kamruzzaman, IO and deputy commissioner of Chittagong metropolitan police, CMP (DB).
For the first time IO of the case quizzed the plaintiff of the case on Thursday at DB office of CMP headquarters for three-hour while the IO also said he will talk with Mosharraf Hossain, father of Mitu.
Md Kamruzzaman, IO of the case said, “The investigation of the case is developing every day. I got some significant information after quizzing Babul Akter. For more development I will talk with his father-in-law. For the sake of investigation I could not disclose the information I got from him.”
On June 5, Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, 32, wife of Babul Akter, former SP, was stabbed and shot dead at the GEC Circle in Chittagong near her home by a group of motorcycle-borne assailants as she escorted her son to a school bus. Babul filed the murder case with Panchlish police station which the Detective Branch (DB) of CMP is investigating at present.
In the quiz Babul admitted he knew Kamrul Sikder Musa and Ethesamul Haque Bola for many years but he did not disclose why they killed Mitu or who gave them order to kill his wife, said police sources.
Police soon after the incident so far arrested seven people for their alleged involvement with the murder incidents, among them two gave conversational statement before the court that they took part in the killing mission led by Musa.
But sill Musa, the prime suspect is missing, however, Musa’s wife Panna Akhter demanded police picked up Musa.-STAFF REPORTER
