Dhaka – Islami Chhatra Shibir on Tuesday strongly protested the US-based think tank IHS Jane study describing the pro-Jamaat student body as one of the world’s most active non-state armed groups in 2013. In a joint statement, Shibir central president Abdul Zabbar and its secretary general Atiqur Rahman said, “We vehemently protest and condemn the publication of such an irrational and irresponsible report (prepared by IHS enlisting Chhatra Shibir as top 10 most active non-state armed groups of the world in 2013).” The Shibir leaders alleged that several media and the website of the ruling Awami League have been spreading propaganda based on the IHS report. “This course of action proves that the report and the list of IHS are nothing but a part of the preplanned propaganda and conspiracy against Islami Chhatra Shibir. This report has been prepared in a bid to tarnish the image of Chhatra Shibir,” reads the statement. – UNB
