A memorial programme for Shawkat Osman was held at National Theatre Hall of Shilpakala Academy on January 5. A drama produced by Shilpakala Academy named “Badh” was presented at the event.
The drama focusing on the disastrous effects of persistent communal intolerence is inspired from a story by Shawak Osman. Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Minister for Science and Information Technology Yasef Osman, Professor Dr Biswajit Ghosh were present at the event as speakers. Liaquat Ali Lucky, director general of Shilpakala Academy; Dr Abul Azad, chairman of Muktijuddho Academy and Nasir Ahmed, director of Bangladesh Television were also present at the event. Poet Kazi Rozi, Anis Mahmud, Dr Samad recited poems by Shawkat Osman.
