Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry service resumes

Ferry service on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route has resumed at 10 am after suspension of seven and half hours due to thick fog in the area.
Seven ferries-Bir Shrestho Ruhul Amin, Bir Shrestho Jahangir, Shah Paran, Kalmilata, Raipura, Ranikhat and Taplur-were forced to anchor at the middle of the Padma River for poor visibility with about 1,000 passengers and different kinds of vehicles.Sheakhar Chandra Roy, assistant manager of BIWTC at Shimulia Ghat, said the river vessels service resumed at 10 am after lifting of heavy fog.He added that the ferry movement was suspended at 2.30 am for avoiding accident due to blurred River marking point on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route.He said about 300 different kinds of vehicles—including passengers buses and goods laden trucks-are awaiting on both sides of the river. -BSS, Munshiganj
