Shirin for strengthening relations between BD-Sino parliaments

Dhaka: Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury on Friday proposed strengthening relations between Bangladesh parliament and China’s National People’s Congress.
She came up with the proposal during a meeting with visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping at Hotel Le Meridien in the city. UNB News Agency Reported.
Talking to reporters after nearly 20 minutes that began around 5pm, Shirin said, ”The main focus of our discussions was on consolidating relations between our national parliament and China’s National People’s Congress. We’ve told them to increase exchange visits between our MPs and China Congress members so that they can share various issues relating to parliament and political system and bilateral ones.”
She said they also discussed how to make parliament more effective through the exchange of views among the lawmakers of the two friendly countries.
Besides, the Speaker said, they discussed issues relating to bilateral cooperation, connectivity, development activities and investment.
Later, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia met the Chinese President.
