At least 15 shops were gutted and 15 people injured by a fire incident that took place at Gridokalindia Bazar in Faridganj upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
Witnesses said the fire originated from a short circuit at a timber shop around 3pm and soon engulfed 14 other adjoining shops.
On information, a fire fighting unit from Chandpur rushed in and doused the flame.
The affected shop owners claimed that the estimated loss caused by the fire stood at about Tk40 lakh.
The injured were whisked off to a local hospital.
