A mass signature campaign was made in Barisal city on Wednesday
morning protesting failure of police in arresting killers of school
boy Inan in last two months and demanding immediate arrest of the
killers.
The programme was jointly organized by local elites, class mates,
students, teachers, guardians, family members, of the victim in front
of Ashwini Kumar Hall.
The organizers and signatories of the programme said SamirRafi Inan,
16, class X student of Barisal Government Zilla School and only son of
Zahangir Hossain Tanu, a contractor of Baro Bari Lane in Banglabazaar
area of the city was beaten to death by young terrorists of the area
on April 7, 2013 following altercations over playing cricket.
Father of the victim lodged a murder case in this connection on April
8 with Barisal Kotwali police station accusing seven killers by name
as Rifat, Rishad, sons of Rafikul Islam Gafur, vice president city
Jatiya Party (Ershad), Shimon, Hasan, Rana, Jumman and Sourav.
Local people nabbing Sourav, one of the accused, handed over to police
and besides that none of the other accused was arrested, nor did the
investigation of the case advance, the protestors said.
The absconding accused and their family members giving different types
of threatening against the victim’s family members and giving pressure
to compromise taking the chance of inactiveness of the police, they
alleged.
They cautioned that if immediate arrest and punishment of the killers
would not be assured by the authourity, then they will announce hard
programmes of movement.
Officer in charge of Barisal Kotwali police station said investigation
about the alleged killing and drives to arrest accused killers going
on.
