South Asian Handball: Bangladesh beat Afghanistan, lose to Nepal  

Dhaka, Apr 2 (UNB) – Touring Bangladesh made mixed results in the five-nation 5th South Asain Women’s Handball Championship in the Indian city Lucknow on Monday.
Bangladesh women’s outplayed Afghanistan by 35-9 goals in the day’s first match after clearly dominated the first session by 17-4 goals.
Sumi scored 9, Rubina 8, Dalia 4, Shirin, Alpana and Shilpi netted 3 goals each for the winners.
But in the day’s 2nd match, Bangladesh conceded 17-26 goals against Nepal after trailing by 6-12 goals in the first half.
Ealier, Bangladesh made a flying start in the five-nation 5th South Asian Women’s Handball Championship outplaying Bhutan by 44-3 goals in their first appearance in the Indian city of Lucknow on Sunday.Bangladesh comfortably led the first half by 25-1 goals.
Sumi, Rubina and Shirin scored six goals each while Rupa and Khadija netted four each for the winners and Joyce scored two goals for the losers.
Among the South Asian countries, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal and hosts India are taking part in the regional handball meet while Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Maldives are not playing in the meet.
