Summit-DRU Media Cup Cricket advance to semifinals

Dhaka -The Summit-DRU Media Cup Cricket Tournament, organized by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), advanced to the semifinal stage on the 5th day at the Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Monday.Four teams-Channel 24, Channel i, Bangla Vision and BD News 24.com –reached the semifinals eliminating their rivals in the quarterfinals on Monday.

Both the semifinals will be held on Tuesday with BD News 24.com taking on Bangla Vision at 8:30 am at ground-2 while Channel 24 facing on Channel 1 also at 8:30 at ground-1 of the stadium.

Two winning semifinalists will play the final on the same day at 11 am at the same venue.

Captain of Bangladesh ODI Cricket team Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will be the chief guest in Monday’s final and will distribute prizes. CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Nizamuddin Ahmed Sujon will also be present as special guest.

In the day’s quarterfinals, BD News 24.com eliminated Alokito Bangladesh by five wickets. Bangladesh Vision defeated Dainik Inqilab by 36 runs, Channel 24 beat Rtv by two wickets while Channel 24 eliminated JagoNews24.com by four runs to reach the semifinals.

Ariful Islam Rony of BD News 24.com, Mizanur Rahman Sabuj of Bangla Vision, Sadman Sakib of Channel 24 while Rahul of Channel 1 were adjudged man of their respective matches.

Earlier in the 3rd round matches, Bangladesh Vision outplayed ATN Bangla by 58 runs, Rtv beat SA TV by three wickets, Dainik Inqilab defeated the Independent by 51 runs while Channel 24 beat NTV by 43 runs.

DRU President Saiful Islam, general secretary Syed Sukkur Ali Shuvo, BSJA President Saidur Rahman Shamim, among others, were present in the day’s matches as guests and later they distributed the prizes.UNB
