Speaker back from Delhi, leaves for Teheran Monday

Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury returned home on Saturday afternoon after a four-day visit to India.
The Speaker made the visit at the invitation of Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar. She leavesDhaka for Tehran on Monday to attend the conference of Speakers of OIC countries. During the visit, she held separate meetings with Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, opposition leader in Loksabha Sushma Swaraj and opposition leader in Rajjayasabha Arun Jaitley.
Chaudhury sought cooperation of the Indian prime minister to resolve complexities over signing sharing of Teesta water and land boundary agreements.
She visited the Indian Parliament House and witnessed sessions of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
Meanwhile, the session of 10th Parliament resumes at 4:30pm on Sunday after a four-day recesses.
The Speaker is scheduled to leave Dhaka for Tehran on Monday to attend the conference of Speakers of OIC countries. – Staff Reporter
