Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday expunged the term “there is no real opposition party in this parliament” mentioned by Rustom Ali Farazi, an independent MP.
Talking on a point of order, Farazi said this while criticising Finance Minister for his Monday’s remarks that MPs who opposed passage of a bill, are ignorant.Farazi and a number of other MPs brought some amendment on the bill tiled “Rajshahi Krishi Unayan Bank” and opposed its passage.
In reply Muhith on Monday said those who are opposing the bill are ignorant, even age of some of the MPs who are talking against the bill is less than half of mine.
Pointing to Muhith’s criticism, Farazi yesterday said as there is no real opposition in the parliament they are helping the government by making constructive criticism on different issues.
“But its unfortunate that the experienced and learned Finnce Minister rebuked us using unparliamentarily languages,” he added.
After Farazi’s statement, JP MP Kazi Feroz Rashid talking on a point of order lambasted Farazi for terming JP as not a real opposition.
He demanded that the Speaker expunged the term from the parliament proceedings. In reply, Speaker said the term will be expunged.
