Dhaka, June 26 – Six members of a family, including a Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) member, were injured in an attack by miscreants at tourist spot Panihata in Nalitabari upazila on Monday for protesting eve-teasing.The injured are BGB member Jamal Uddin, 48, his daughters Tanjina Begum, 19, and Rehena Begum, 17, nephew Rasel Mia, 22, daughter-in-law Meem Begum, 18, and niece Lucky Begum, 19.
Witnesses said the family members, hailing from Panihata, went on an outing at the tourist spot on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
However, Samad Miah, a youth from nearby Kalakuma village, started teasing the girls, said officer-in-charge of Nalitabari Police Station AKM Fasiur Rahman.
When Jamal protested it, Samad called in his associates and they beat the family members, leaving them injured.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital. – UNB
