Stocks end week flat

Both the share markets– Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange –have ended the week with a flat performance on Thursday.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the premier bourse, shed over 33.43 points or 0.60 percent, finishing the last day of the week at 5521.66 points.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also lost 7.47 points or 0.58 per cent to close at 1272.24.

The DS30 comprising blue chips declined 4.73 points or 0.23 per cent to close at 2050.43 points.

Trade deals stood at 103823 with a volume of transactions at Tk 5578.89 million which was a mentionable decrease from the previous session.

Of the issues traded, 83 gained, 196 declined and 45 remained unchanged.

SPCL topped the chart of turnover leaders with a value of Tk 247.98 million followed by REGENTTEX, LANKABAFIN, ISLAMICFIN, SAIFPOWER, ICB, BXPHARMA, RSRMSTEEL, and IDLC.

Chittagong stocks also closed lower today with the bourse’s benchmark index, CSCX, decreasing 76.45 points to finish the last day of the week at 10368.61 points.

Losers, however, beat gainers as 156 declined and 56 advanced, while 29 finished unchanged on the Chittagong Stock Exchange.

The port city bourse traded 176 lakh shares and mutual fund units worth Tk 536 million in turnover.
