Stocks open the week upward

Stocks opened the week upward today as all indices on the country’s two bourses- the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE)-gained on the day.

Turnover, a vital indicator of the market, stood at Tk 711.54 crore, on the DSE. The bourse traded a total of 16.84 crore shares on the day.

DSEX, the broad index of the DSE, gained 80.24 points to settle at 5522.Two other indices followed the same trend as DS30 index, comprising blue chips, advanced 28.62 points to finish at 2010.42 and DSE Shariah index gained 15.43 points to settle at 1278.88.

Out of 340 traded issues, 193 closed higher, 100 closed lower and 47 issues remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Top five gainers on the day were LankaBangla Finance, Premier Leasing, RSRM Steel, Bay-Leasing and Prime Textile. Atlas Bangla, Aziz Pipes, Alif Industries, Ambee Pharma and Renwick Jajneswa were the top five losers.

In the port city, CSE also closed upward with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI – advanced 196.52 points to finish at 16982.76.

The gainers dominated the trading as 139 issues closed higher, 80 lower and 32 remained unchanged on the CSE trading floor.

CSE traded 1.14 crore shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 56.35 crore in turnover.
