Stocks perform mixed on higher transactions

Stocks performed mixed on Wednesday with major indices finishing downward trend as most of the major sectors closed lower despite increasing the daily transactions.

The day’s trade value at DSE increased to Taka 1069.59 crore from Tuesday’s Taka 962.23 crore and the daily trade also rose to 29.38 crore shares from 25.87 crore shares of the previous session.

The falling major sectors were fuel and power, financial institution, insurance and food and allied. A total of 174 securities of the large-cap group incurred losses due to lower activities.

The major DSEX index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased 43.67 points to close at 5775.59, when the blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES finished the day 13 points down to 2121.25 and 7.31 points down to 1314.80 respectively.

Out of 330 traded issues, 223 incurred losses when only 86 closed with some gains. Most of the losing issues were from large-cap securities.

Monno Ceramics, 1STPRIMFMF, National Life Insurance, RAK Ceramic and ICBEPMF1S1 were the day’s top gainers while the major losers were BD Welding, BIFC, Global Insurance, Beach Hatchery and Fu Wang Food.

Doreen Power topped the turnover list followed by Ifad Autos, RAK Ceramic, SPCL and UNIQUEHRL.

Like on Tuesday, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also finished Wednesday’s session in red, with major CASPI index closing 135.61 points down at 17930.

Out of the traded 264 issues, 63 advanced, 184 incurred loss and 17 remained static when 2.23 crore shares worth Taka 71.14 crore changed hands, reports BSS.
