Dhaka– A street beggar was hacked to death by a mugger in the city on Saturday.Locals said the incident took place at a foot over bridge at Tongi Station Road around 12:30pm when a mugger, Billal, attempted to snatch money from beggar Julhas.At one stage, Billal stabbed Julha indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.Later, police arrested alleged killer Billal.Officer-in-charge of Tongi Police M Feroz Talukdar said Billal and Julhas were mentally challenged men adding that Billal chopped Julas to death following an altercation between them over money.On the other hand, a blind beggar, Jamal Hossain, suffered injuries as some muggers stabbed him to mug money from him at Cherag Ali bus stand in the city around 11:30am, leaving him injured critically.He was first taken to Tongi Hospital and later shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).(UNB)
