Dhaka – Progotishil Chhatra Jote, a conglomerate of left-leaning student organisations, called a strike at Social Sciences and Arts faculties of Dhaka University on Tuesday to realise its four-point demand, especially bringing an end to evening courses in all public universities and revoking additional fees.“We’ll enforce the strike to realise our four-point demand. If the university administration doesn’t pay heed to our demands, we’ll announce tougher programme,” said Maruf Billah, president of Chhatra Union Dhaka University unit, at a press conference at Madhur Canteen on Sunday afternoon.
Their two other demands are withdrawal of cases filed against some students of Rajshahi University and providing expenses for the treatment of those injured at the university during their movement against tuition fee hike and evening courses. – UNB
