Submission report against Tareque in defamation case

A Dhaka court on Sunday deferred the date for submission of report in a case filed against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tareque Rahman for maligning Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to August 23.Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed order as no such report was submitted to the court on behalf of Paltan Police Station of the city on Sunday.

Zahid F Sarder Sadi, special adviser to BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and foreign envoy of the party is the other accused in the case.

On March 23, last year, Fazlul Karim Arif Patwari, President of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Central Committed filed the case with the CMM Court of Dhaka against the accused for compensation of Tk 100 crore. He said in the case statement that he was suing Tareque as his comments had meant loss of fame for the Awami League.

The case has been filed against Tareque, who has been in London since 2008, for slandering Bangabandhu terming him Pakbandhu while addressing at a programme on November 11, 2014.
