Substandard food at RU Syed Amir Ali hall

Residential students Syed Amir Ali Hall of Rajshahi University (RU) have been served unhygienic and substandard food for years because of enormous irregularities and lack of appropriate care and supervision of the authorities.
Sources said dinning hall attendants and managers are mainly responsible for it while the house tutors have hardly any headache to improve the situation.
As a result, most of the residential students of the hall are suffering from malnutrition and stomach diseases like diarrhoea and dysentery.
Following the issue, students of the hall informed the hall provost of the bad quality meal several times in the past. But no necessary measure was taken by the authorities in this regard and no noticeable changed was seen in the meal quality as well.
At last on 4 December 2015, students staged demonstration inside the hall protesting the substandard and unhygienic food supply and demanding for promoting the qualitative standard of everyday’s meal.
In a drive this day, the students found rotten potatoes, beans, radishes and other vegetables at kitchen rooms of the hall.
The agitated students gathered at the room of hall provost to press home their demand.
Meanwhile, in absence of hall provost, the house tutor Mokhlesur Rahman mollified the students assuring them of promoting the food quality as early as possible.
