Sujan president, secretary sued in Rajshahi

A case was filed on Sunday against Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan) president Hafizur Rahman Khan, secretary Dr Badiul Alam Majumder and two others on charge spreading propaganda about a chairman candidate in the recently held upazila polls. Advocate Salauddin Biswas, a chairman candidate in the Godagari upazila polls who failed to come out successful, filed the case with Rajshahi Cognisance Court-2 at noon. The other accused are Sujan’s Rajshahi region coordinator Subrata Paul and field worker Sanjida Haque Bipasha. In the case statement, Salauddin alleged that Sujan distributed leaflets with information of the participating candidates ahead of the upazila polls held on March 15 where they mentioned that the complainant withdrew from the election race which was totally false. He also alleged that voters refrained from casting votes in his favour due to the propaganda of Sujan whereby he lost the election. It also caused a financial loss to the tune of Tk 10 crore to him. – UNB
