The house of a councillor candidate of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) came under attack by a group of miscreants over putting up election
banner at Sonarpara in the city on Thursday midnight.Witnesses said the supporters of Sazzadur Rahman Suzzad, a candidate for councillor post of No 21 ward of the SCC, hung a banner on his behalf at the entrance to Sonarpara lane at about 12.00am.
Seeing the banner above the one of a sports competition, one Umed asked them to remove that (of Suzzad).
An altercation ensued between them over the matter.
At one stage, Umed along with his men swooped on Suzzad’s Sonarpara house.
The attackers threw brick chips at the house.
Later they also vandalised a motorcycle near the house.
A tense situation was prevailing in the area centering the incident.
