Tagore’s birth anniversary to be celebrated at Osmani Smrity Auditorium

Great bard Rabindranath Tagore’s 155th birth anniversary will be celebrated with much festivity and enthusiasm in the city on the occassion of his brithday. Ministry of Cultural Affairs will organise the national celebration programme at Osmani Smrity Auditorium in city at 3pm in the afternoon on Sunday( May 8). Prsident Md Abdul Hamid will inaugurate the programme as chief guest while Cultural Minister Asaduzzaman Noor will preside over the event. Aktari Momtaz, secretary to the Ministry of Cultural Affrairs will deliver the welcome speech of the event. Eminent Tagore exponent Professor Sanat Kumar Saha will present the keynote paper at the event. The event under the title “Ekush Shatak E Rabindranath Thakurer Prashangikota” will look to asses the philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore in respect of contemporary times. A discussion seesion will be held during the event followed by a thirth minute long cultural session. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) will present Tagore’s folk songs during the cultural session. Artworks crafted by Tagore will also be displayed during the event.

Chhayanaut will organise a two day Rabindra Festival at its premises starting from May 7. The festival will start from 6 in the evening on May 7 and 8. Recitation, singing performances and drama prsentations will be held during the festival. Chhayanaut will organise the festival for the seventh time this year.

Besides Rabindra festivals, cultural programmes and discussions remebering Rabindranath will be held at different parts of the country that are cherished by Rabindra’s memory. Shelaidah of Kushtia, Shahzadpur of Sirajganj, Patisar of Naogan, Dakhindihi and Pithabhog of Khulna are the sub-districts where the local administrations will hold programmes.
