Tapan Chowdhury to honour distinguished artistes on birthday

Veteran singer Tapan Chowdhury is to celebrate his birthday on January 7 with much solemnity and dedication as he has envisioned awarding seven of his dearest compatriots in career. These seven personalities in one way or another contributed to the shaping of the four decade long illustrious career of Tapan. He will also launch his new solo album “Fire Elam”. The album will be his first in thirteen years. The birthday programme will be arranged at Dhaka Club by Bangla Dhol. Minister of Commerce Tofail Ahmed will be present as chief guest while lawmaker barrister Fazle Noor Tapash as guest of honour. Tapan himself will hand over the prizes personally.

Those to receive the award are Subrata Barua who first introduced Tapan to the band Souls; music composer and lyricist of Tapan’s popular score “Mon Shudhu Mon Chuyeche”- Nakib Khan, Pilu Khan; Ayuub Bachchu, the music composer of Tapan’s debut album; filmmaker Amjad Hossain who gave Tapan’s ticket to playback singing in films for the first time in “Bhat De”; Alauddin Ali, the musician of Tapan’s song “Koto Gailam, Koto Go Shadhlam” and Tajul Islam the writer and composer of the song “Palash Futeche.”

The album “Fire Elam” contains ten songs. Two of them are remakes. They are – “Palash Futeche” and “Jete Jete Keno Pore Badha”. One song is a duet with singer Nancy. Lyricists of the album are Shezan Mahmud, Mahbub Pilu, Tajul Islam, Kabir Bokul, Saiful Islam Mukul, Milon Khan while music composers are Subir Nandi, Pulok, Shezan Mahmud, Mahbub Pilu, Pulok.
