Tea workers call off strike

Bangladesh Tea Workers’ Sangram Parishad  has called off their
indefinite strike started from Tuesday to press home their 20-point
demands including election of Tea Workers’ Union and increase of
salary.

The decision came as Labour Minster Razi Uddin Ahmed assured the
organisation leaders to meet their demand in an emergency meeting held
at his office on Tuesday.

All tea workers will join their respective workplace from Wednesday.

Earlier, the organization declared to continue strike for indefinite
period from May 21 until their demands are met. Tea Workers’ Union
Sangram Parishad President Makhan Karmakar was present as Chief Guest
in the discussion meeting held on May16.

State Minister for Labour Munnuzan Sufian and Bangladesh Tea Workers’
Sangram Parishad President Monishangkar Karmakar were present among
others in the meeting.
