In connection with the broad daylight murder of Khan Zahid Hasan (50),
Secretary, Fakirhat Upazila Awami League and Chairman of Fakirhat
Sadar Union Parishad in the district a case was lodged with Rupsa PS
under Khulna district by his wife Shirin Aktar on Sunday against 9
persons including Sardar Neamat Hossain Chairman of Fakirhat Upazila
Parishad and Jubo League leader Harun-ar-Rashid. The other accused
persons are the local Awami League and Jubo League leaders and
workers. Besides this, the list of accused persons includes
unidentified 7/8 more. It is guessed by the police that the murder
was, perhaps, done due to the internal quarrel among the factions of
both local Awami League and Jubo League
On the other hand, Police of Rupsa PS already arrested two
persons suspecting their involvements in the murder. They are Azad
(30), son of one Abdul Barik of village Panchani under Rupsa PS and
Zakir Hossain (40), former UP Chairman of Gangni under Mollahat
Upazila in Bagerhat district. Former of the two is enlisted accused.
Police brought them before the local Chief Judicial Magistrate and
demanded 10 days’ remand for their interrogation, But the Magistrate
granted only 2 days’ remand.
The people have already brought out procession in Fakirhat
Upazila Headquarters for consecutive three days as a nark of protest
against the murder of AL leader Khan Zahid Hasan and demanded the
arrest and exemplary punishment of those culprits responsible for the
murder.
