My fourteen years kid, the younger one, have been so much indifferent to his studies that after getting his result a few days ago, he asked me to buy some English story books from the New Market in Dhaka because his examination was over. I am working in Dhaka and they are living in Rajshahi. I would like to mention here a few names of the books from his list: 1. The Recruit; 2. Class A; 3. Maximum Security; 4. Man Vs Beast; 5. Divine Madness.He was earlier enthusiastic about his studies but now neither he reads nor watches cartoons or any TV programme. I am weak in English. So, from the very early stage, my kid is taught by a professional English teacher from a renowned English medium schools of Rajshahi. My kid was studying in grade seven in a renowned government school in the divisional town. A madam taught them English and behaved rudely with all the students- said my son. He has got only fifty percent marks in English. Those securing positions from 1-5 got A+ marks and others got poor marks, said my son. How come my son has got only 10 Marks in Math SBA out of 20 when he is a regular student and also achieved 90 percent marks in the last annual Math examination? Only the meritorious students get chance in government schools after tough competitions.
My elder son now in grade X has obtained no practical marks in physical education. My wife and my son met the head teacher, the asst head teacher and the physical education teacher. Only the physical education teacher responded. I told my son that he did not respond during the roll call in the field. But my son said he responded. A few other students had the same experience. We and our kids are very much frustrated with their schools.
