Teachers’ test revoked in 8 districts

Written tests to recruit assistant teachers for government primary schools held on Nov 8 have been cancelled in eight districts following allegations of a question-paper leak. The names of the districts have not, however, been revealed for the sake of an investigation.
“The written tests have been cancelled following an allegation of a question paper leak,” said a Primary and Mass Education Ministry spokesperson.
The ministry had formed a four-member investigation team to probe the incident, said SM Ashraful Islam, additional secretary to the ministry.
The probe report will be available soon, he said.
The written tests, which were taken by as many as 968,127 candidates, were held in 1,362 centres across the country on Nov 8.
Police arrested several people following allegation of the leak in some districts the night before the test.
The additional secretary said several sets of question papers had been prepared for the test.
He said they had information that the paper for Mymensingh had been tampered with.
The test has been revoked in districts where the question paper set meant for Mymensingh had been handed out.
Ashraful, however, declined to divulge the names of the districts ‘for the sake of the investigation’.
The Primary Education Directorate had put out advertisements on July 2, seeking around 7,000 assistant teachers for pre-primary classes.
The teachers would be drawn from all districts other than three hill tracts of Rangamati, Khagrachharhi and Bandarban.-bdnews2.com
