An extensive campaign for the third phase upazila parishad election on March 15 started in Sadar and Mohnganj upazilas of the district.
The supporters of the candidates are distributing leaflets with the election symbols and photographs of the candidates among the local people.The candidates are also addressing election rallies at different important places of the upazila and making fresh commitments for development.The entire upazila wore a festive look as posters containing symbols and photos of the contesting candidates are seen hanging across the main roads and markets for attracting voters.A total of 2,30,892 enlisted voters including 1,15,269 female voters are likely to cast their votes through 420 polling booths of the 105 vote centers in Sadar upazila and 1,05,818 voters including 52,625 woman voters are expected to exercise their right of franchise through 208 pooling booths of 52 vote centers in Mohanganj upazila.Three candidates are contesting for chairman post, four for the vice chairman and two for female vice chairman post of Sadar upazila while three candidates are contesting for the chairman, three for vice chairman and two for woman vice chairman in Mohanganj upazila.Returning officer and additional deputy commissioner Netrakona Abdullah Al-Mamun said, all officials and employees concerned at all levels had been working relentlessly for holding the polls in a free, fair, transparent, impartial and credible manner. -BSS, Netrakona
