Robbers looted Tk1.46 lakh and other valuables, including two mobile phone sets, from
Satkhira municipality office early Monday.
Satkhira municipality mayor MA Jalil said a gang of armed robbers broke into the office
and vandalised its six rooms after taking night guard Rafiqul Islam hostage at gunpoint at
about 2.00am.
Later, the hoodlums entered the accounts section, took away Tk1.46 lakh breaking open
the almirah, two mobile phone sets and some valuable documents and decamped with the
booty.
They also ransacked some important documents of the office, added MA Jalil.
On information, police rushed in and detained night guards Rafiqul and Azadur for
interrogation.
Satkhira police super Mollah Jahangir Hossain confirmed the incident and said that police
