Cops barricading JCD processions cause scuffles: 29 held

DHAKA: At least 20 people were injured as Chhatra Dal activists had sporadic scuffles with police in different parts of the capital on Monday. Police detained 29 JCD activists from various spots.
The clashes took place at city’s Bijoynagar, Matsya Bhaban, National Press Club and adjacent areas while police barred JCD processions which were moving towards Suhrawardy Uddyan to observe the sixth anniversary of the release of BNP’s senior vice chairman Tarique Rahman.
Police arrested 17 people form Matsya Bhaban, 8 from Bijoynagar and 4 from National Press Club areas for their alleged involvement in the clashes.
