Transport strike in Khulna division withdraws

Dhaka – The indefinite period transport strike at 10 districts of Khulna division was withdrawn this evening which was enforced by the Bus-Truck Workers Federation protesting the life-term imprisonment of a bus driver.The decision came after a meeting between road transport workers federation and divisional administration this afternoon at Khulna Circuit House here.Additional divisional commissioner (general) Md Faruk Hossain and general secretary of Khulna Motor Workers Union Md Zakir Hossain jointly announced the decision after the meeting.’After a fruitful discussion, the transport owners, workers and leaders of the federation agreed that they will appeal against the verdict,” he said.Chairman of Khulna Zila Parisad and president of Khulna district unit Awami League Sheikh Harun-ur-Rashid, Additional divisional commissioner (Development) Subash Chandra Saha, Khulna deputy commissioner Nazmul Ahsan, Additional Police Commissioner Mahbub Hakim, Additional Police Super S M Shafiullah,Additional SP of RAB Md. Enayet Hossain Mannan, Additional district magistrate Noor-e-Alam, President of bus owner assciation Abdul Gaffar Biswas,President of Khulna divisional truck workers union Kazi Md. Sarwar Hossain, General Secretary of Khulna Motor Workers Union Md. Zakir Hossain Biplob, among others, attended the meeting.Agency
