Tree fair begins in Moulvibazar

A seven day-long tree fair began at Moulvibazar Government High School
Playground in the district town on Monday.
The district administration, Forest Department and Agriculture
Extension Department jointly organised the fair.
On the occasion, a procession was brought out from the Deputy
Commissioner office that paraded the main streets and ended at the
Moulvibazar Govt High School Playground.
A discussion meeting was also held with Deputy Commissioner Md Kamrul
Hassan in the chair. Bangladesh Jatiyo Sangshad Chief Whip Vice
Principal Abdus Shaid MP attended the programme as the chief guest,
while additional DC Mr Jahirul Islam, Police Super Tufail Ahmed,
Deputy Director of AED Abdul Jalil Miah, Divisional Forest Officer
(wildlife) Mahbubur Rahman were present as the special guests.
The chief guest formally inaugurated the seven-day tree fair by
cutting ribbon. A total of 60 stalls were set up at the fair venue for
display. The stalls have been displaying saplings of various flower,
medicinal timber and fruit bearing trees.
Seminars and cultural functions will be held every afternoon during
the fair. Some saplings were distributed among the students of
different educational institutions free of cost. -Our Correspondent
