One perso was killed and two others were injured after a tree fallen on a tea-stall during downpour and storm at Joyoshri bus stoppage under Uzirpur upazila on Barisal-Dhaka Highway on Thursday morning.Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman of Uzirpur police station after visiting the spot said Matiar Rahman Haoladar, 65, son of late Mafez Haoladar of Atipara Senbari village of the upazila, bidding farewell to his Dhaka bound son from Joyoshri bus stand took shelter under the shade of makeshift tea-stall owned by Yusuf Ali after caught in storm and downpour at about 10:30 am.
Suddenly a Krishnachura tree falling in storm crushed the tea-stall and blocked the highway at about 11:00 am. Moti Haoladar crushed under the tree and died at the spot, while tea-stall owner Yusuf Ali and staff Tanvir injured.
Dead body of Moti Haoladar handed over to family members without postmortem on request and the injured two received treatment at local pharmacy, the police official said.
Traffic on the highway resumed after two hours following removing the tree from the road with the help of local people and highway police, he added.
