Tributes paid to Bangabandhu on National Mourning Day

Speakers at a discussion today said it was a rare example that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman united all the countrymen under an umbrella through a 18-minute historical speech at the Rescourse maidan in Dhaka.All the people got ready imbued with the spirit of his (Bangabandhu’s) historic speech, they said.
National Museum arranged the discussion marking the National Mourning Day and 38th anniversary of the death of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and other family members of his family to be observed today with president of its board of trustee in the chair.
Vice-Chancellor of National University Professor Dr Harun-or- Rashid was the key speaker, while National Professor and President of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust spoke as the chief guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by Awami League Advisory Council Member and Member of National Museum Board of Trustee Professor Dr Sultana Shafi.
The speakers said the killing of Bangabandhu was the most barbaric and heinous act in history. They called upon the new generation to be imbued with the spirit of the ideals of Father of the Nation.
