Four day labourers were killed and three others injured as a truck carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in front of the main gate of Barapukuria Coal Mine in Parbatipur upazila early Wednesday.The deceased were identified as Rezaul Islam,40, son of Abdul Malek, Ismael Hossain,42, son of late Abdul Karim, Zafrul,38, son of late Nababuddin, and Dilip,36, son of Ashu Chandra, all residents of Harirampur village in Nababganj upazila of the district.Officer-in-charge of Parbatipur Police Station Mahmudul Alam said the accident took place when a wood-laden Dhaka-bound truck fell into a roadside ditch in the area after its driver lost control over the steering around 12:30am, leaving the four labourers on it dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were admitted to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
