Two Bnp activists bullet-hit in Mymensingh ‘gunfight’

Two BNP activists sustained bullet injuries during a ‘gunfight’ with police in Khagdahar Bypass More area of the Mymensingh district town early Thursday.
The injured were identified as Mehedi, a resident of Jamtala More, and Sharif Molla, a resident of Goailkandi of the Mymensingh town.Police said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area to arrest ‘saboteurs’ in the dead of night.
Sensing presence of police,’ the saboteurs’ opened fire at the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight.
Mehedi and Sharif Molla sustained bullet injuries during the reported ‘gunfight’. Later, police arrested them while their ‘associates managed to flee the scene’.
The injured were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital under police custody. Police also recovered a live crude bomb and a petrol bomb from the spot.
Officer-in-charge Fazlul Karim of Kotwali Model Police Station confirmed the incident. – UNB
