Police recovered the bodies of a mosque’s Imam and a girl from Chhatak
and Sullah upazilas of the district on Monday. Police recovered the
floating body of an Imam from a pond near Zahidpur Imam Nagoripara
Jam-e-mosque of the upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Hafiz M Billal Hossain, 19, Imam of the
Zahidpur Imam Nagoripara Jam-e-mosque and son of Hushiar Ali of Palpur
village of the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Chhatak Police Station Shahjalal Munshi said
locals spotted the body of Billal floating in the pond of the mosque
in the morning and informed them.
Later, the law enforces recovered the body and sent it to Sunamganj
Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Imam Billal might have been drowned into the pond while taking
ablution for Fazr prayer, added the OC.
On the other hand, the body of a young girl was recovered from
Kamargaon village in Sullah upazila on the same day. Local people
found the body of Loni Bibi, 16, daughter of Mansur Ali of the same
village, lying in open space near her house in the morning and
informed police.
Later, law enforces recovered the body that bored several injury marks
with her neck and sent it to Sunamganj Sadar Hospital morgue for
autopsy.
Officer-in-charge of Sullah police station M Anisur Rahman confirmed
