Police arrested a municipality level leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from
Darabaria area in Moheshpur upazila of the district on Monday.
The arrested person was identified as Ismail Hossain Polash, secretary
general of Moheshpur municipality unit Jamaat.
Officer-in-charge (OC) Akram Hossain of Moheshpur police station, said
acting on a tip-off, police arrested the Jamaat leader from the area
around 6.00pm on charge of attacking police, vandalising statue of the
Liberation War and blocking road by placing logs.
There are a total of 10 cases, 8 with Moheshpur thana and two with
Kotchandpur thana, filed against him on the aforesaid charges.
He was former president of Moheshpur upazila unit of Islami Chhatra
Shibir, an associate body of Jamaat, the OC added. -UNB, Jhenidah
