Two burnt in fire caused by an explosion in N’ganj

Dhaka – Two persons were burnt in an explosion at a two-storey building in Narayanganj in the early hours of Friday.
The explosion was heard at about around 3 am Friday at the ‘Comilla House 2’ building at Borab Graveyard Road in Rupganj.
“Police suspect it was a bomb explosion. A bomb disposal unit has conducted a search in the house,” police said.
Two walls of the building collapsed and fell on a tin-roofed house next to it, while a fire broke out inside the house following the explosion.
Ibrahim, 22, and his brother-in law Aynal, 26, suffered injuries in the fire and were later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Fire service personnel have put out the blaze. Police and RAB personnel have laid siege to the house.
Abul Khayer, owner of the house, its caretaker Shariful Islam and his wife Nargis Begum have been detained for questioning, police said.
Tajul Islam, who owns the tin-roofed house, said: “The walls broke and fell on the room of my tenant Rubina.”
Abul Khayer frequently flies to and from Kuwait. He came a few days back to celebrate Eid-Ul-Azha. – Agencies
