Two charged for raping tribal woman

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Sunday submitted the charge sheet of the case filed against two people for violating a Garo woman in a microbus in the city in May.
Ajmila Nasrin, RAB-1 ASP and also the Investigation Officer of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the General Recording Officer (GRO) of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of on Sunday afternoon and that will be placed to the court on August 25. The charge sheet was submitted against M Ashraf Khan and Zahidul Islam alias Lavlu. On May 28, a court had placed the duo on a 10-day remand each.Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Tushar alias Ashraf  and microbus driver Lavlu for their suspected link with the rape in the capital on May 22.The law enforcers also seized the microbus used by the alleged offenders.
The 22-year-old Garo woman filed the case on the charge of gang rape against five unidentified miscreants with Bhatara Police Station alleging that she was raped by miscreants in a moving microbus in the city on May 22.
According to the case statement, the woman was dragged into the microbus by the miscreants from Kuril Bus Stand around 9:30pm on the night of May 21 as she was waiting for transport to return home after the day’s work at a showroom in the area.
Later, the miscreants threw her out of the bus at Jasimuddin Road of Uttara at midnight and some people of the area rescued her and took her to a local hospital.
On June 4, the two accused made their deposition in the court. – Special Correspondent
